School Liaison at HNC

The School Liaison team at Huddersfield New College offer a wide range of facilities and support for schools and students. These include:

Assemblies - Available to all year groups. College specific or general assemblies.

Talks - Talks to groups of students. General or inspirational talks such as discussions about behaviour, attitude to learning, punctuality and under-achieving students.

Careers events - Day or evening events. Stands with literature to hand out to students, parents/guardians or staff. Available to give talks and advice about which courses suit future career aspirations.

Parent Evenings - Available to all year groups to give information or advice to students, parents/guardians. We can set up a stand or deliver talks at the parents evenings.

Information sessions - These sessions are available to all year groups to ensure that students are aware of college requirements and expectations.  These sessions can be tailored to your unique needs.

Open days / evenings - HNC holds three open events a year where all students are invited to look around the campus, talk to subject specific staff as well as career advisors, listen to a talk from the principal and speak to student ambassadors. The School Liaison team are available to attend school open days and events.

Transition visits - These are visits that happen both at college and in schools, preparing students for the step up to college. These are available to students on a one-to-one basis or in groups. There are also opportunities for a one-to-one tour around HNC.

Mock interviews - These are for students preparing to leave school to seek employment or go on to further education.

Events at HNC - Throughout the year we hold a number of events at HNC where schools are invited to attend with their students. These include the STEM Conference, Fashion Show, Year 10 Days, Hustings and many more.

Curriculum workshops - Each department offers workshops that can be delivered in schools or at the College. This can give students a feel of what’s to come if they choose to study this subject at HNC.

Gifted and Talented - Talks and presentations delivered to gifted and talented students who would become part of the HNC Honours Programme.

Question and answer sessions - Available with a panel of current students or staff, this gives prospective students a chance to ask questions about College and the courses on offer.

Options evenings - These are for students who are starting to think about choosing their options. Stands with literature, or talks, are available.

Primary School Projects - The school liasion team can offer a variety of different primary school activities. These can include raising aspirations activities, careers events and curriculum workshops.


The School Liaison team are open to requests and will accommodate requests where possible.
