July sees the launch of a three-month consultation period on the College’s Single Equality Scheme. A Single Equality Scheme (SES) is a document that outlines how we meet the statutory duties placed upon us as a public sector body, in terms of identifying and responding to issues of discrimination. The SES for HNC aims to demonstrate how we will:
As a member of the local community and a valued stakeholder in the College, we welcome your input to the consultation process. This is an opportunity for you to influence the College’s approach to equality and diversity and your views are important to us. It would therefore be appreciated if you could respond to the consultation questions, which can be accessed via the following link:
The consultation period will draw to a close on 30th September 2010 and the responses received will be used to amend and finalise the SES and Action Plan.
If you would prefer to respond to the consultation questions through alternative means, such as a paper-based questionnaire, please contact Zoe Shackleton, Equality and Diversity Manager, on 01484 652341 for assistance.
Thank you in anticipation of your input to this consultation process.
Running alongside consultation on the Sing Equality Scheme, the College will be working towards achieving Investors in Diversity status. Investors in Diversity (IiD) is a standard and framework which helps organisations to manage equality, diversity and inclusion through a planned and holistic approach. Essentially, IiD helps an organisation to create, develop and embed a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion.
By embarking on this journey to achieve Investors in Diversity status the College has shown great commitment to its employees and learners. The initial step towards achieving IiD (Level One), is to consult with a range of stakeholders to assess ‘where we are’ in how we manage and promote equality and diversity. As a valued external stakeholder your views are extremely important, therefore, we ask that you spare five minutes of your time to complete an online diagnostic questionnaire, which enables you to share your perceptions around equality, diversity and inclusion in the College; your responses will help make improvements, whilst also celebrating the successes so far.
The online diagnostic is available via the link below:

The questionnaire is completed anonymously and the outcome of the process, combined with the results of additional diagnostic surveys for learners, parents and internal stakeholders, will determine if the College meets the IiD standard (at Level One), therefore your input is extremely valuable. If you would prefer to complete a paper version of the diagnostic please contact Zoe Shackleton on 01484 652341 extension 2364 and I will forward one to you.
