Huddersfield New College is a well-established sixth form college with over 2000 full time students. Investment in the college campus of around £8 million over the past 6 years has resulted in a modern, well equipped learning environment, with excellent specialist resources in a wide range of curriculum areas. The college has built on its reputation for academic success, by encouraging students to achieve excellent examination results year on year.
The college is set in extensive grounds and enjoys unrestricted views over the hills and valleys of the south Pennines. Local buses from the town centre stop right outside the college and the college has its own bus service for students who live at a greater distance where public transport is difficult. It has good on-site parking facilities for students and a secure and welcoming campus.
Most students at the college follow advanced level programmes but general vocational programmes at intermediate and foundation levels are also offered. This wide range of courses ensures that the college can offer a programme of study to meet an individual's requirements and aspirations. All students receive support from a personal tutor and have the opportunity to take up a variety of additional activities through our enhancement programme.
Each year the majority of students go on to universities across the UK including Oxford and Cambridge. Students who choose to go into employment are given support and advice with job applications to ensure that they have a good start in the job market. The college employs four specialist careers advisers who assist students in researching the wide range of progression opportunities available.
The college was inspected by Ofsted in October 2004.
