About the College - Principal’s Welcome

A very warm welcome to Huddersfield New College

At Huddersfield New College, we recognise how exciting the move from school to college can be and how important it is that you choose the right college for you.

In becoming a student at HNC, you will be joining an established academic community with roots back to 1958. Our campus looks very modern: however, generations of students have studied here and progressed successfully to Higher Education and employment.

Our academic rigour is not just historical. In our Inspection in October 2011, Ofsted recognised us as a ‘good’ college ‘with outstanding features’, and concluded ‘students make good and outstanding progress at HNC’. In becoming a student at HNC, you will be challenged to achieve as much as you can.

As an HNC student, you will have access to excellent facilities! They include two cafeterias, a multi-purpose sports hall and floodlit all-weather pitch, a state of the art fitness suite, a dance studio, two theatres, a library and a drop-in Study Centre and IT centre. HNC has an outstanding student support system. Our personal tutors, guidance team, study centre team, careers advisors, health practitioners and counsellors provide every student with ‘exceptional’ support.

Our extensive enrichment programme will enable you to widen your college experience with activities such as sport, music and dance.

I warmly invite you to explore HNC for yourself. Make use of the Open Evenings to visit our green and spacious campus.

Look at the departments, talk to staff and students – ask questions – get a feel for the college first hand. We will be happy to meet you and, should you choose HNC as your college, guide you to success.
