Students at Huddersfield New College spent a day planning a site for a Holocaust memorial made in Huddersfield.

The installation, entitled 6million+, represents the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides since WW2.

It is made up of more than six million buttons, each representing a life lost, which were collected in Kirklees and further afield.

The installation was created by Kirklees Museums and Galleries and West Yorkshire artist Antonia Stowe, for Kirklees Holocaust Memorial Day in 2006.

Since then it has been exhibited in Huddersfield, Dewsbury, London, Ripon and Newcastle.

Kirklees Council is hoping to find a permanent home for the art work.

A group of New College students have been researching the best setting for the statue.

The results will be presented at Holocaust Memorial Day at Huddersfield Town Hall on January 24th at 7:15pm.
