We offer over 40 different academic and vocational subjects, including AS, A level, Applied A level and BTEC National courses. All offer good progression routes to higher education and employment.
An increasing number of students are now taking advantage of the flexibility we have to offer in the curriculum, and are combining elements of both academic and vocational courses.
Many students prefer the coursework approach to assessment taken by the Applied A levels and BTEC National Diplomas to the examination approach taken by AS and A Levels.
Selecting a programme of study with a balance of coursework and examinations which suits students’ individual preferences is an important consideration.
Whether students take a programme of A levels, National awards, or a combination, most will take 4 AS levels (or equivalent) in the first year, then focus on just three subjects (or equivalent) in the second year. In addition, students will work towards the AS and A level in General Studies through their tutorial programme, and will be encouraged to develop their Key Skills.
The entry requirement to take a full advanced level programme is 5 GCSE passes (or equivalent) at grade C or above including English or Maths. These grades should be achieved in at least three different curriculum areas.
