What is Community Service?
A chance to have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping others in the community with a variety of needs whilst gaining first hand experience of areas of care, schools or various other specialist organisations. This programme arranges placements for students to suit their skills and needs.
What does it involve?
Community Service can be undertaken in a block placement or one day / a half day per week. You will usually have an interview before you are accepted for a placement.
When can I do it?
You can arrange your placement any time during the year to fit with your studies or in the holidays.
What benefits will I gain?
You will be able to claim Key Skills in Communication and Working With Others. Community Service shows a high level of commitment which will help with applications to Higher Education or employment. It is highly recommended for students hoping to become teachers, social workers or who wish to work in the health service or the police.
