A team at Huddersfield New College has worked in partnership with the Kirklees Healthy Schools Team to produce a brand new standard for colleges. The idea is to put health on the agenda for students in the 16-19 sector and to make a real difference to their long term wellbeing. A Healthy College network has also been established.
Having written the standard we had the challenge of achieving it, and are pleased to announce that we met the standard in June 2007.
The work that we have done in conjuction with the rest of the healthy college network will contribute towards the introduction of a national Healthy College Standard modelled on the successful Healthy Schools Standard.
The Healthy College Co-ordinator is Kate Birch
Full details of the standard can be found at the KHCS website
