The first exchange between Huddersfield New College and the Lycée Louis Pergaud in Besançon took place in 2002, and in 2008 it is in its seventh year.  Besançon is a large attractive town in eastern France with a long history, and it is the French twin town of Kirklees.  Students from New College spend a week in France, staying with the family of their French partners, and they host their French partners in their own homes for a week.  French and English students have the opportunity to speak the foreign language they are learning, and at the same time they get a unique insight into life in another European country.  Travel to and from France is by train.  The visit to France includes time in Paris and a trip in the region around Besançon.  There is more information on the exchange on the French section of Blackboard, or you can see Michael Cawley in 804.
