Careers and HE

Who are we?

The college employs 4 professionally qualified Careers Advisers with a wide range of experience in Careers and Education Guidance.

  • Tony Sturdy is the Senior Careers and Education Adviser
  • Jan Armitage
  • Wendy Townend (Monday to Thursday)
  • Andrea Etherson (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30 – 3.30)
  • Judith Triner is also available to provide Careers advice and support and is employed by the local Connexions Service. She is in college Tuesday and Thursday and can also offer appointments at the Huddersfield Connexions office.

We work from a dedicated Careers area in college which is part of the Guidance department. We have a well stocked library which can be used by students throughout the college day, as well as IT facilities for Careers research.

We offer support through Careers appointments where students can ask for help with a wide range of Careers and Education related issues. We can help students explore their options in a welcoming and confidential setting. There is a more informal ‘drop in’ service where students can call to ask quick questions.

The Careers Department contributes to the college tutorial system where comprehensive help is given to students on issues such as career planning.
