How to Apply
The 5 Step Plan
Step 1. Choose your courses
Huddersfield New College offers a full range of exciting courses, all you need to do is browse through and then choose the ones that you think are right for you.
If you need more advice, speak to your school Connexions advisor or to a member of out liaison team at Kirklees Careers Events or to our subject staff at our Open Evenings.
Step 2. Apply
Schools in Kirklees
If you attend one of the 11-16 schools in Kirklees, either complete in full the application form in the 2011/12 prospectus. Give your completed application form to your careers advisor or Head of Year 11 who will send it to the college on your behalf
OR
Complete the Kirklees online application form. Your careers advisor or Head of Year 11 will help you to complete this application successfully.
Schools outside Kirklees
If you attend one of the schools outside Kirklees, complete in full the application form in the 2011/12 prospectus.
Post your completed application form to:

OR
Complete our online application form.
Your application for a place at the college must be received by Friday 24 February 2012.
Step 3. Admissions Interview
All applicants to the college who meet the application deadline are guaranteed an admissions interview.
Interviews will be held in January, February and March 2012.
If you attend one of the 11-16 schools in Kirklees, interviews will be held in your school.
If you attend one of the schools outside Kirklees, interviews will be held in the college.
The interview is a key part of the application process, as it is an opportunity for us to discuss with you why you want to join us at Huddersfield New College, how you believe you can make a positive contribution to the college and what you would like to study, so that we can make sure that you have chosen the college and the courses that are just right for you. In order that careful consideration can be given to your course choices, you are asked to bring your most recent school report with you to your interview.
Step 4. Offer of a place
Providing that your school report demonstrates a good record of attendance, punctuality, behaviour and attitude to learning, and that we have courses which meet your needs, you will be offered a CONDITIONAL place at college at the end of the admissions interview.
This will be confirmed by letter.
This place is conditional on you meeting the entry criteria for your chosen courses.
If you would like to accept this conditional place, you will need to do so by letter. This must be addressed to the Student Services Manager at the college address opposite.
Your acceptance of a place at the college must be received within three weeks of the confirmation of your conditional place by letter and no later than Friday 27 April 2012. Late acceptances will be placed on a waiting list.
Step 5. Enrolment and Induction.
Student enrolment and induction will take place from Friday 24 August 2012.
GCSE Results Day is 23rd August 2012
If you are disappointed with your grades, please come and talk to us to discuss your options.
Staff will be available 1 – 3pm on Thursday 23rd August 2012.
