Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment of up to £30 for eligible students aged 16 and continuing in further education.
Students may also receive bonuses of up to £500 over 2 years if they remain on their course and make good progress with their learning.
Payments will be made directly to your bank account so students will need to open an account before they apply for EMA.

Child Benefit can be claimed on your behalf if you are under 19 and studying a full time programme up to and including advanced level
Minor Awards are targeted at students in full time further education and where either they or their parents/guardians are in receipt of a means tested benefit. This award is for students who are continuing in full time education and are not eligible for an EMA. In 2005 - 06 a Minor Award is worth £435 and is payable in three termly instalments. Childcare Support may be available for full time students in further education who have young children of their own. Such students could receive full childcare costs for all timetabled hours. Application forms are available from Student Services.
Hardship Fund - Students who find themselves in severe financial hardship may apply to the college hardship fund. This may be able to offer a small amount of financial help towards expenses incurred in studying at college. Application forms are available from Student Services.
