Support for students > Individual support

All students will have individual support from their personal tutor to ensure that they achieve their potential, and reviews of progress will take place throughout the year. Some students may require additional support with their learning.

The Study Centre offers specialist support to most programmes of study, through teacher support, reference material, worksheets and extension work. It is staffed throughout the day with tutors from different subject areas and there is a Maths and English teacher available for most of the lessons in the week. We have two specialist dyslexia support teachers and one English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) specialist teacher who can provide assessments and specialist tuition. The Study Centre is a comfortable, welcoming and inclusive environment for many students who choose to spend their free or study time there.

Subject tutor support is offered on either a regular or drop-in basis for most subjects:

• one off sessions with a subject tutor to sort out a particular problem or help with coursework, etc
• Regular support sessions
• Drop-in support
• Specialist assessment and support for students with dyslexia
• Specialist support and assessment for students where English is a second language
• Small groups working with tutors e.g. re-sit groups
• Key skills support

The Study Centre is also available for private study. It offers a flexible working environment to accommodate individual private study or small group work.
