This bespoke programme is tailored to meet the needs of our most able students and prepare you for progression to higher education and beyond. The Honours Programme will support you in developing the necessary skills for successful progression to university and employment.

 

WHO CAN TAKE PART IN THE PROGRAMME?

Students who achieve 5 Grade 7s or more at GCSE are eligible to join the Honours Programme.

 

WHAT ARE THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAMME?

Aspirational visits to Russell Group Universities e.g. Durham University

Specialist one to one careers advice.

Opportunity for Personal Development and Skill Development:

Student Ambassador, Student Union, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Enhanced Award, Philosophy, Journalism, Senior Maths Challenge, representing the college at School Liaison Aspire events, Poetry by Heart competition plus other specialist enrichment opportunities

An opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

Oxbridge Application evening

Summer School opportunities

Opportunity to attend an Oxbridge Application conference

Nuffield Bursary Placements

UCAS personal statement workshop sessions

UNIVERSITY LINKS, PROGRESSION AGREEMENTS & ACCESS PROGRAMMES

Huddersfield New College has close working links with a wide range of universities across the UK and we are able to offer students access to many opportunities to sample university life including taster days, funded summer schools, higher education preparation events, visits and visiting speakers.  Some partnership agreements such as the Leeds University Access, Newcastle University Partners and Northumbria University NU scheme offer reduced entry requirements for students who meet certain entry criteria. Others offer additional higher education transition support or guaranteed offers to all New College students.  Current Partnership Agreements include:
