Are you interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry? Are you looking for a course that combines theory with hands-on learning? Then our Applied Sport qualification might be just the course for you!

This hands-on programme will equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to pursue a range of roles within sport such as coaching and instruction, as well degree level study in subjects like sports management. This course is equivalent to 2 A Levels. This means you will study this alongside an A Level or another single applied qualification to make up your full-time study programme.

On this highly interactive course, you will gain an excellent understanding of a wide range of sports pathways, which will help you to determine exactly where your passions lie.

We are proud of the unique experiences that are available to our students both inside and outside of the classroom. These will stretch and challenge you. Our state-of-the-art facilities including Sports Barn, onsite Fitness Suite, Sports Laboratory and outdoor pitches provide you with some unique opportunities to stretch and challenge your skills. You’ll be inspired by visiting guest speakers who will help you understand just where your studies can take you.

You’ll broaden your horizons and skills and build your Cultural Capital. Some of the experiences our students enjoy include:

  • Work placements, including to international destinations and organisations such as Opta Sports
  • Visiting guest speakers who play at a national and international level
  • Visits to grow your physical skills English Institute of Sport, Rokt activity centre, and various outdoor challenge centres
  • Trips to universities and visiting guest lecturers

Through your experience of practical activities and academic theory you will develop your self-confidence and communication skills. Inside the classroom you’ll enjoy a variety of learning methods, including group work, role play and presentations, which will develop your confidence, teamwork and communication skills – all of which are essential in the world of work.

This course is assessed via presentations, group work and assignments, and externally assessed exams. 

Students who gain this qualification progress on to a wide range of destinations, and the opportunities you can experience are vast. There are naturally progression routes within the industry, but our students also continue their studies at degree level and secure careers in areas such as coaching, teaching and leisure centre management.
