Financial support at HNC

Students at HNC can access a range of financial support at HNC via the Student Bursary, subject to eligibility. For our current students who are awarded bursary this includes:

  • A catering allowance of £6.50 per day (£5 for lunch, £1.50 for breakfast). This can be spent throughout the day in any of our on-site catering outlets
  • A free bus pass (if applicable and eligible). Students can choose from either a bus pass for the dedicated NC bus service (used by HNC students only) or an M Card, which can be used on public transport.  Please note students must state their choice when applying as this cannot be changed following receipt of an application. We therefore recommend that students compare the two before selecting their answer, a list of current NC College bus routes can be found here.
  • Up to £140 per month, for the most vulnerable students, paid directly into the student’s bank account
  • Discounts on the purchase of essential resources purchased through WisePay.

Applications are made online.

If you are a current student or parent who wishes to apply for bursary mid year, please email finance@huddnewcoll.ac.uk and you will be provided with a link to the application form.

If you are a student applying to join HNC in September 2025 please note that we invite applicants who have accepted their place to apply for bursary ahead of enrolment, to ensure that eligible students receive support from day one – please note that this is subject to applicants meeting all required deadlines, including for the submission of evidence and/or additional information. Further details regarding this will be provided in due course.
