FROM HNC TO ECFA – ISABELLA SELECTED TO PLAY FOR NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

HNC is delighted to reveal that A Level student and Academy footballer, Isabella, has recently been selected for the English College’s Football Association’s (ECFA) national team – the highest level of College football in the UK.

Isabella, who is in her final year studying for qualifications in Applied Human Biology, A Level Mathematics and A Level Physical Education at HNC, was selected for the ECFA national team following a rigorous process. After undertaking two rounds of trials in the autumn term, Isabella has played a number of fixtures, scoring in one of her first games against ISFA at St George’s Park, the Football Association’s national football centre. Upcoming fixtures include games against the London Lionesses and the Welsh College’s FA team, culminating in a tour which will see Isabella represent the ECFA team in Italy in the spring.

Isabella, who is planning to progress to university to study Sports Science and Maths whilst also continuing to play football at the highest levels, comments “It is a privilege to be selected for ECFA team and to represent HNC in the Women’s Football Academy team. Combining my studies and football at a high level takes a huge level of commitment, however my teachers have been a great, supporting me to balance both my academic and sporting responsibilities. I am particularly looking forward to my trip to Italy at the beginning of March where I will represent ECFA internationally”.

Jamie Marsden, Head of Faculty Enlighten (Sport and Health), says “Being selected to play for the ECFA team is an incredible feat – it is a rigorous process and only the very best players are selected to represent the country at this level. Isabella has shown great determination and commitment throughout her time studying at the College, and has been working hard not only to successfully compete at such a high level, but to also continue to be successful in her academic studies. Isabella truly embodies the Colleges values of motivation, commitment and resilience and I am excited to follow the next steps of her sporting career”.

Isabella is supported by the HNC Talented Athlete programme, the College’s programme for athletes who compete regionally, nationally, or internationally at the very highest levels. Are you a talented athlete? You will be given the opportunity to discuss your sporting achievements in your upcoming interview. You can find out more about our Talented Athlete programme here.
