FUTURE LAWYERS EXPLORE NEXT STEPS WITH LEEDS TRINITY

A Level and Applied Law students from HNC have recently visited Leeds Trinity University’s brand-new city campus, located in the heart of the Leeds, to discover more about progressing to university to study law at degree level.

Students studying Law at HNC have access to a range of enriching opportunities, from taking part in mock trials via the College’s enrichment programme to visiting the local crown courts to see the legal process in action. In this latest enriching experience, students from across the A Level and Applied Law courses at HNC enjoyed a visit to Leeds Trinity University, where they explored the University’s new city centre campus to find out more about studying degree-level Law and discovering what they could expect from life as a student at Leeds Trinity.

On the day, the group took part in a variety of activities, including a workshop focusing on the value of democracy and the importance of respecting law makers. The group were also tasked with taking part in ‘mooting’, a mock trial which saw the group split into a range of roles including defence, prosecution, and jury, arguing their cases in front of the ‘judge’ and ending the moot with a verdict and sentencing.

Zoe Brook, Teacher of Law, comments “Students at HNC can access a range of enlightening and enriching opportunities to support their studies, and students across A Level and Applied Law enjoy a variety of experiences that support their wider learning. This session at Leeds Trinity University was designed to stretch and challenge the knowledge our students have developed in the classroom, inspiring them to think more widely about the topics studied at HNC. Many of our Law students aspire to progress to a career within the Criminal Justice System, and this experience has provided a genuine insight into what their next steps could look like”.
