HNC’S ART AND DESIGN STUDENTS EXPLORE THEIR NEXT CREATIVE STEPS
15.01.2026HNC’s Applied Art and Design students recently enjoyed a visit to the University of Huddersfield’s Barbara Hepworth building, taking part in a variety of creative workshops and discovering more about life at the University.
Applied Art and Design students at HNC study the subject full time, developing artistic skill and expression across a wide range of creative disciplines. Our Applied Art and Design students were recently welcomed to a special taster day at the University of Huddersfield to take part in a range of degree level workshops in the Barbara Hepworth building, home to the University’s School of Art and Humanities. On the day, students were invited to participate in two workshops, choosing from Fine Art, Illustration, Graphic Design, Architecture, Photography or Interior Design. As well as taking part in their chosen hands-on workshops, the groups learned more about the courses on offer and enjoyed a tour of the creative facilities they would have access to as students at the university. Sarah Anderson, Teacher of Applied Art and Design, shares more “Our Applied Art and Design students aspire to progress to a wide variety of creative careers, from architecture to illustration! This enlightening day at the University of Huddersfield provided our students with a genuine insight into what their next steps could look like, and which courses would best support their wider ambitions. Not only has the day supported our Applied Art and Design students to consider the right next steps for them, the degree level workshops they took part in on the day has provided an opportunity to further develop their individual artistic expression.
