IT’S A NUMBERS GAME: HNC ACCOUNTING STUDENTS EXPLORE NEXT STEPS WITH UNIVERSITY OF HUDDERSFIELD
20.01.2026HNC’s A Level Accounting students have recently spent the day exploring their next steps with the University of Huddersfield, taking part in a number of degree-level workshops and discovering more about the wide range of options available to them post-HNC.
A level Accounting – which launched at HNC in September 2025 – is a course that builds the skills and knowledge needed to support progression to a wide variety of degrees and careers in finance and accounting. The finance sector is complex, with many different branches and specialisms, and in a recent taster day at the University of Huddersfield, our Year 12 Accounting students explored just how many options would be open to them post-HNC!
On the day, groups enjoyed taking part in degree-level workshops focusing on accounting within the food industry, financial markets, and a ‘cost of fame’ workshop. The day also consisted of a tour of the School of Business and wider campus, enjoyed a Q&A session with students currently studying an accounting-based course, and discovered more about the variety of courses available at the University.
Stephanie Clay, Teacher of A Level Accounting, comments “The vast majority of students who have chosen to study A Level Accounting have done so with aspirations to progress to a related degree or career – and this taster day has provided them with a genuine flavour of what their next steps could look like if they choose to progress to university. The degree-level workshops provided a brilliant insight into the level of knowledge and breadth of topics they could expect as a university student, and I know that for many, this is an experience that will not only inspire their commitment to their current studies, but it will also help to determine the right next steps. Thank you to the University of Huddersfield for hosting such an enlightening day”.
