Second year BTEC Music (Performance) students took audience members by storm at their end of year showcase last week. The 'Student Sessions' show featured the best of HNC’s musical talent - all organised by students, for students. The event attracted a full house, and the audience were wowed by the impressive performances and on stage energy.
Student bands from both years performed at the event, with acoustic solos during the interval… The music never stopped! The evening followed on from an equally successful gig in the wider community, organised again by the second year students. In March, the students did their first 'Student Sessions' event at the Jubilee Centre in Paddock, which was a great success. The centre’s Youth and Community worker Alison Lloyd was impressed by the students’ professional approach: “The group respected the centre’s ethos, working together as a team and supporting each other”.
The final 'Student Sessions' was the culmination of the students’ hard work over the year, showcasing their talent for song-writing as well as performing covers. Paul Hewitt and Jo Love, Music course leaders said: “We were both incredibly proud of their performances, and their organisation of the whole event”.
Congratulations to all those involved in running such a successful event!
