Huddersfield New College’s Sport department recently welcomed James Prieditis (Westend FC Juniors) and Tommy Westmoreland (Evolution Sports Qatar) to College for a series of work placement talks.

Students spent these sessions hearing from Tommy, founder of Evolution Sport Qatar and James, Academy Manager at Westend FC, about the wide variety of work placements available to them through their organisations, with opportunities ranging from Coaching and Fitness through to Sports Journalism and Physiotherapy. Students were also able to apply for a 6 week summer placement in Qatar- an incredible opportunity which could potentially progress into full time roles once students have completed their studies at the College.

Tom Smith, Teacher of Sport, says “All of our Level 3 BTEC Sport students undertake a work experience unit, and these industry links allow our students to find and apply for some of the best placement and volunteering opportunities in the industry, giving them a competitive edge when taking their next step onto university, an apprenticeship or the workplace. We’d like to thank James and Tommy for taking the time to visit College and helping our students explore the opportunities available to them through Westend FC and Evolution Sports Qatar”.
