It has been a fantastic year for women’s sport at HNC! Following the news that the Women’s Football team has clinched a national title, the College has announced that the Women’s Netball Programme 2nd team has secured a new league title.

The College’s Academies and sports programmes support students with a talent in a particular sport to play competitively and train whilst studying. The Women’s Netball Programme second team has now claimed the league title in the National Association of College’s championships. Despite trailing significantly in the first two quarters, HNC virtually shut out any scoring by their opponents in the last quarter coming from 23-17 down to win in the final minute 25-24 and claim the title from Notre Dame. The team showed some fantastic skills to secure the victory and the title of league champions.

The Netball Programme is helping to develop the talented players of the future. Student Hannah Moulds recently secured a place at the Leeds Rhinos High Performance Netball Academy. This programme is aimed at talented athletes who have the desire and potential to play at International or National Super-League level.

Jamie Marsden Director of Sport and Head of Academies comments: “It has been an incredible year for all of our teams, but our female teams have recently brought home a record-breaking number of trophies! Our Women’s Netball Programme is supporting some really talented players, all of who are at the top of their game. We expect to see many of them progress to representing their sport nationally and internationally. Congratulations to the team!”
