STUDENTS GROW THEIR BUSINESS MINDS AS PART OF ASDA LEADERS PROGRAMME
11.11.2024HNC has revealed how some of our Business students are enjoying the chance to grow their business minds and develop their employability skills as part of the ASDA Leaders programme
The group has recently started the programme and over the coming weeks will be working together to solve a genuine business problem that tackles both an equality and diversity and a sustainability issue.
During day one the group learned more about Asda and its multi-billion pound business operation, and discovered what the coming weeks will involve. During the programme the group will be challenged to put together their business based solution, which they will then deliver as a pitch to senior executives at ASDA in early 2025. As part of the programme the group will be able to access a Mentor from Asda who will support them to shape a an effective solution that will work in the real world, and could potentially be used by ASDA.
Will Bacon, Teacher of Business and Faculty Lead comments: “We’re really excited to be part of the ASDA Leaders programme which has allowed some of our Business students to be presented with a real life business challenge and work together creatively to solve it – day one saw the group looking at how they may improve access to online delivery services for the elderly, some of whom may be struggling with the IT aspect of it. The group came up with some brilliant ideas, and we’re really enthused by seeing how the theory they explore in the classroom is used to find solutions.”
“Over the coming weeks they will be working together on solutions to real life problems, and developing their business case which they’ll present to senior management. The opportunity to work with experienced professionals genuinely grows the confidence of our students and put them a step ahead of their peers when applying for high profile degrees, apprenticeships and jobs. We’re really excited to be part of the programme, and hopefully see the solutions presented by the group become part of ASDA’s business model!”
