THE SEASON OF GIVING: BUSINESS STUDENTS HOST CHARITY FUNDRAISER

HNC is excited to announce that Applied Business students will be hosting a variety of charity fundraising activities for our chosen charities of the year, Andy’s Man Club and the Women’s Centre, with staff and students invited to take part to help us to raise funds for these very worthy causes.

In Applied Business, students put the skills learnt in the classroom to the test in a variety of hands-on activities. Students from across the Applied Business course have recently taken part in a special workshop with the College’s Director of Marketing to learn more about the world of Events Management, with the groups tasked with designing a charity event aimed at raising funds and awareness for the College’s chosen charities of the year. Following the workshops, twelve groups pitched their event ideas to a panel, with six of the groups selected to host their activities in the final week of term ahead of the Christmas holidays.

The charity events will be taking place from Wednesday 18 December (with awareness raising stalls being hosted on Monday 16 December) and a full list of activities can be found below. James Tindall, Faculty Lead Enlighten Business, comments “In Applied Business, students develop a wide range of skills that support progression to a variety of business-related careers. The groups have recently worked with our Director of Marketing to discover more about events management and the process that a team needs to undertake to run a successful event. The groups worked together to develop their plan and were asked to pitch their idea to a panel, building on not only their business skills but also on skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. Six of the groups were successful with their pitches and have been working hard to bring the lessons learnt in the classroom to life, and will be using their upcoming events to raise money and awareness for the College’s chosen charities of the year. I hope you will join us next week to help us raise the much-needed funds these charities need to continue their work, locally and nationally”.
