Social & learning spaces

Our campus is home to a variety of spaces where you can study independently and dedicated areas where you can relax with your friends. We have two main social spaces, The Junction, where you can find a shop with ‘grab and go’ options, a hot food servery, wrap bar and places where you can purchase hot drinks. Our onsite catering team provide a wide range of breakfast and lunch options and a seasonal menu that changes weekly, all at reasonable prices.

We offer a range of dedicated study spaces which can be used during study periods, including Independent Learning Hubs. The LRC is a space dedicated to silent study only. Students who have completed their independent learning and wish to socialise are asked to visit a dedicated social space. We also invite students to benefit from our ‘cosy campus’, and enjoy their study periods in a warm, safe and supervised environment. As part of cosy campus students can:
– Access extended opening hours in our LRC (7.30am – 6.30pm Monday – Thursday and 7.30am – 6pm Friday)
– Pick up a portion of free porridge in the morning (available in the Junction) or use the microwave facilities to heat their own food
– Benefit from free off peak travel on selected HNC shuttle services (for students who have a MCard, further information can be found here).

Students at HNC can also access a range of outdoor facilities for socialising and we are lucky to be located in an area which provides plenty of opportunity to enjoy local walks to keep your mind and body healthy.

Throughout the year we host a range of events in The Junction, from our popular Diversity Weeks to our annual Careers Fair.

As a student at HNC, one of my favourite things about the college is the fantastic aesthetics and facilities that are available to students. The college boasts modern, spacious buildings and a beautiful campus that is both inspiring and welcoming.
