Success stories

HNC is a great place to make new friends. Everybody genuinely enjoys it here and looks forward to coming. HNC builds your independence and encourages autonomy, and College life focusses on building and developing important skills for post-college life, as well as developing your subject knowledge in lessons.

At HNC I felt heard, seen and supported. College has prepared me for my future by making me a significantly more confident person, with the ability to communicate with new people and talk to new people. Every single one of my teachers has taken on board any adjustments I need, taken extra time to understand my personal situation, helping me to feel capable of achieving my full potential.

Overall my time at HNC has been such a positive experience. All the support and guidance has really made all of the difference in helping me getting to my next steps. Since being at HNC I have had encouraging teachers and friends that will never be forgotten.

The enrichment programme at HNC is really comprehensive - there are so many to choose from that there is genuinely something for everyone. I chose to take part in enrichments that supported my subjects, as not only did this support wider learning in my subjects, it also supported me with applying for my next steps.

College for me has been an overwhelmingly positive experience. HNC is such a welcoming place and it's easy to meet new people - I have made some amazing friends here. The teachers encourage you to aim high, and their feedback is always supportive, which builds your confidence as you develop your skills and knowledge.

The teachers at HNC genuinely care about your success, your wellbeing and your achievements both inside and outside the classroom. I loved the class discussions and debates we had during lessons. Being encouraged to share your opinions and listen to the opinions of others has developed my confidence and my public speaking skills and I really thrived in an environment that focused on interactive learning.

HNC is such a supportive and creative environment. I met so many amazing people who were as passionate as I was about their subjects, and it was inspiring to be surrounded by like minded people. During my time at College I became more "myself" and developed confidence and independence and the ability to communicate and express my ideas, helping me to progress to my dream degree.

There are so many opportunities at HNC and I said yes to as many as I could! I played on the Cricket Academy, I was a member of the XL Programme and I also took part in the EPQ. Teachers and Progress Tutors are on hand to provide support that's individual to you, and the Careers Team were also really helpful in supporting me to identify the right next steps for me. HNC has been a positive experience!

Undertaking work experience alongside my studies really helped me to decide on my future next steps. The Work Experience Officer was so helpful in supporting me to secure a relevant placement where I could gain valuable skills that helped me to achieve my very best at HNC and also allowed me to secure a place on a competitive degree programme.
