DEGREE LEVEL DANCE WITH LEEDS BECKETT UNIVERSITY
16.12.2025HNC’s A Level Dance students recently took part in a special session delivered by final year degree level Dance students from Leeds Beckett University, enjoying a special performance and taking part in a workshop that focused on creativity and improvisation.
Students studying A Level Dance at HNC explore a wide range of dance genres and choreography, have access to a range of specialist performance spaces, and enjoy a wide range of enriching experiences both inside and outside of the classroom.
In a recent workshop, HNC welcomed final year students from Leeds Beckett University’s BA (hons) Dance degree, who joined A Level Dance students for a special performance of their final year piece based on emotions. Following the performance, the group then led a hands-on workshop to explore how students can develop their skills in improvisation and creative dance, followed by a session developing choreography from a stimulus. The group also enjoyed a guided yoga and meditation session to end the workshop.
Cat John, Teacher of A Level Dance, comments “A Level Dance students at HNC enjoy a wide range of experiences inside and outside the classroom that help them to hone their skills and techniques. We particularly encourage our students to stretch and challenge their dance skills with a wide range of specialist workshops. It was fantastic to welcome Leeds Beckett University to showcase the level of dance that is expected at degree level, and to share more about life as a Performing Arts student at a university. This was a session that I am sure will go on to inspire our students to take their own work to the next level”.
