FESTIVE FUNDRAISING: HNC’S BUSINESS STUDENTS GIVE BACK

HNC is delighted to announce that the College’s Year 12 Applied Business students will be hosting a festive fundraising event on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 December, raising much needed funds for the College’s chosen Charities of the Year, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Young Lives vs Cancer – with special guest, ex-professional footballer, Frazier Campbell, joining our penalty shootout!

Applied Business is a course that supports students to develop work-ready skills – from working on real world business briefs to running events, it is a subject that develops a wide range of skills including communication, leadership and organisation. As part of a module that explores events management, students in Year 12 run an annual ‘festive fundraiser’ – raising funds and awareness for the College’s chosen Charities of the Year.

This year, Applied Business students have planned a range of events and stalls, with activities taking place across the College campus on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 December – including a special penalty shootout, supported by ex-professional footballer, Frazier Campbell. The groups have worked together to plan and promote the events, and all profits made will be donated to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Young Lives vs Cancer, making a difference to the lives of young people both locally and nationally.

A full list of activities and events can be found below.

Dan Evans, Teacher of Applied Business, comments “Our annual festive fundraiser provides an opportunity for our Applied Business students to put the lessons learned in the classroom to the test! Events management is a key topic studied in the subject, and running events from beginning to end ensures that students build skills in areas that employers and universities look for. It is also a brilliant way for our community to give back, helping us to shape a better future for all by supporting our chosen Charities of the Year. I hope our community will join us next week to take part in a wide range of carefully planned activities, competitions, and stalls – it’s the perfect way to get into the festive spirit!”
