With just over a week to go until applications for 2024 entry close (Friday 2 February) and just a few days until our first admission interview evening on Monday 29 January, HNC is highlighting that the questions applicants will be asked at interview are available on our website. All applicants are encouraged to consider their potential answers to these ahead of interview, to ensure that they get the very most from the process.
The interview is an important step in helping applicants to explore if HNC is the right College to support their ambitions. A significant proportion of the interview is spent ensuring that students are opting for a study programme that enables them to achieve their vision for the future. Applications are open until Friday 2 February, and students who are invited to attend an interview will receive an appointment between our scheduled interview evening window which runs Monday 29 January – Thursday 14 March. Please note there is no priority allocation of places based on interview dates therefore applicants who apply later in the application cycle will not be placed at any disadvantage. All applications received by the application deadline will be considered.
As part of this process, all applicants are asked the same questions by our supportive interview team. While these are not competency based or scored, they are designed to prompt thinking and conversation about a range of key areas, and help an applicant to consider if HNC is the right place for them. In addition, the interview will also review if an applicant meets the College’s entry criteria in terms of predicted grades, attendance, punctuality and commitment to learning.
All applicants are encouraged to prepare their answers to the following questions, and are welcome to bring notes or reminders about their answers along to their interview.
Hayley Doyle, Admissions and Marketing Director comments: “Naturally, attending your College interview can feel exciting or a little nerve-wracking – sometimes a mixture of the two! Choosing the right College for your post-16 studies is an important decision, and these questions are designed to help applicants explore if they are ready to start the process of becoming their best self here at HNC. Applicants are encouraged to think about their potential answers to these questions ahead of interview. We would like to reassure applicants that it is also perfectly fine not to have answers to all of the questions – it is common for example for applicants not to be 100% sure of their long term career plan and if this is the case we look at building a study programme that offers flexibility in terms of progression. We can’t wait to meet our potential future students at their interviews and we are looking forward to sharing more about the incredible experiences on offer here at HNC!”
