HNC is delighted to reveal that from 2024, we will be expanding our successful Sports Academies programme to include a brand-new Basketball Academy team.
Our Sports Academies programme is now in its 22nd year. Students who are part of an Academy are at the top of their game in both their studies and their sport. This year we are building on this exceptional programme with the introduction of our Basketball Academy, which like all our Academies, offers players from across the local area an opportunity to train with an elite team while studying at HNC. Open to both male and female players, the Academy will provide students with a chance to excel in their chosen sport under the direction of our experienced Coaches. As a College we enjoy exceptional sports facilities, which include specialist gym equipment, sports laboratories and a purpose built multi-use Sports Barn.
The Basketball Academy team will play and compete within the AoC framework, so students who successfully trial for a place will play in an established league. All of our Academies play competitively, therefore it is important to note that the expected level of talent is high, and you should have experience of playing this sport competitively. If you’d like to join this Academy, you will be invited to register your interest at interview and then be invited to a trial in the late spring.
Jamie Marsden, Head of Faculty Sports Academies, comments “I am delighted that following student feedback we will be introducing a Basketball Team to our successful Sports Academies programme for 2024. This is a welcomed addition to our successful Sports Academies programme and will offer local talented basketball players the opportunity to develop their sporting skills whilst achieving the life-changing qualifications that will support their career progression. I can promise and exceptional experience for our future Basketball Academy team and I look forward to meeting our potential players”.
