HNC STUDENTS GET READY FOR THEIR NEXT STEPS AT ANNUAL CAREERS EVENT

HNC’s Year 12 students have recently enjoyed taking part in the College’s annual Careers Event, which featured over 70 exhibitors and 50 careers workshops delivered by universities, employers and training providers – a day that is used to inspire our students’ next steps after HNC.

The HNC annual Careers Event is a day where the College’s Year 12 students make a start on their post-18 journey, planning their next steps by taking part in a variety of workshops and networking with a wide range of universities, employers and training providers to gain a genuine insight in to the possibilities that lay beyond HNC. On the day, each student in Year 12 was invited to take part in two workshops, choosing from over 50 different sessions that encompassed careers as versatile as law, medicine and journalism to taking part in practical sessions such as developing interview skills, perfecting public speaking skills or learning more about how to manage their personal finances.

The final part of the day encompassed a large-scale careers fair, with over 70 different exhibitors. During the fair, students were able to network with a number of local employers and training providers, and speak with universities about their next steps. After the event takes place, Year 12 students then start their UCAS applications, and are encouraged to meet with the College’s Careers team to put their plans into action.

Rebecca King, Work Experience Officer, comments “What a brilliant day! Our annual Careers Event attracts a large number of high value employers, training providers and universities that inspire our students’ next steps beyond HNC. Choosing the right route, subject or sector is key to our students’ successful progression, so it is important that our students are able to access the right information at the right point in their journey. Our annual Careers Event genuinely enlightens our students to the wide variety of options available to them, and I have enjoyed hearing all about the exciting next steps they are planning to take. Thank you to our exhibitors and partners for supporting our event and making a difference to our students. I am already looking forward to next year’s event”.
