IT’S A GOAL! HNC FESTIVE FUNDRAISER WRAPS UP WITH PENALTY SHOOTOUT WITH FORMER PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER

HNC’s Year 12 Applied Business students brought the festive feeling to HNC this week, with their annual ‘Festive Fundraiser’ in aid of the College’s chosen Charities of the Year, Young Lives vs Cancer and The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Students studying for a qualification in full-time Applied Business work on a range of projects and briefs throughout their studies, developing not only their knowledge of Business, but building work-ready skills that universities and employers alike look for. A key project worked on in Year 12 is the annual Festive Fundraiser – an event that directly links to the subject’s Events Management module.

Throughout the week students have been hosting events including a Christmas raffle, 360 photobooth, bake sale and trivia event. There was also an opportunity to take part in a basketball tournament and a penalty shootout, with the latter event drawing a special guest – ex-professional footballer, Frazier Campbell who has played for a number of teams including Manchester United and Huddersfield Town. Those participating in the penalty shootout also received some expert guidance, hints and tips from Frazier.  The event had a great turnout, and participants also had the chance to win 4 Huddersfield Town Tickets and a £30 voucher!

The photo gallery below shows our students enjoying the chance to learn some skills from Frazier, along with some images of students and their activities during the week.

Amanda Beirne, Teacher of Business, comments “Our annual Festive Fundraiser is an event that puts our Applied Business students’ skills to the test! From planning an engaging activity to making sure they stick to a budget, the groups must work together and use the business knowledge developed in the classroom to successfully run their event. This year it was fantastic to see some celebrity support for an event, and we are very grateful to Frazier for supporting the penalty shootout and sharing his expert skills with our students. It was lovely to see our College community come together to support our students and raise awareness for our chosen Charities of the Year – truly embodying our College values of passion and empathy”.
